Happy (first) Fianza Friday (of 2021)! A little Q&A for you!

QUESTION: Did you know that starting a revolving fund for immigration bonds will allow donations made in 2021 to continue to help immigrants in the Midwest in the future?

HOW DOES THAT WORK?!?

When a fund pays ICE an immigration bond on behalf of a detained person, that bond earns interest until the person’s case is finished in immigration court. When the case is finished, the bond money COMES BACK to the bond fund. Then the money that was donated originally PLUS the interest that the bond earned is re-invested in the bond fund to pay another person’s bond in the future. In other words, a 2021 donation is the #giftthatkeepsongiving.

WANT TO HELP?

The average immigration bond in the Chicago Immigration Court is $5,000. So if 20 people commit to making a recurring monthly donation of $21, the fund that Midwest Immigration Bond Fund (that launches February 1, 2021) can pay one bond in 2021 and more in the future!

HOW DO I SIGN UP TO DONATE MONTHLY?

Thanks for asking! It's easy to make a recurring tax deductible donation here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/midwestibf.
