The Midwest Immigration Bond Fund (MIBF) first launched as a revolving community bond fund in February 2021, and became an Illinois nonprofit five months later. As of August 22, 2022, we are a federally recognized 501(c)(3) organization. Today, we make up 14 volunteer board members and bond fund ambassadors who work in the Midwest to secure the release of folks from ICE custody. We represent all 4 of the states under the jurisdiction of the Chicago Immigration Court: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.

As we work toward abolishing immigration detention, posting bonds is important to prevent long-term separation of families, reduce the economic impact on immigrant communities, and help individuals defend against deportation.
